P&G facilitates your search via TalentBrew, a job matching tool developed by TMP Worldwide. TalentBrew uses the LinkedIn application to extract job relevant information from a user’s LinkedIn profile (name, email, city, experience, education, skills & endorsements, recommendations, accomplishments and interests). P&G processes your data pursuant to its Candidate Privacy Notice.

We use that information to run an automated keyword-based comparison against P&G’s job descriptions and then present our available roles sorted by order of relevancy to your qualifications. The encrypted user data is only cached within our servers for 24 hours to save time for returning users. We do not access, process or store this information except to provide the job matching service

All you need to know when starting a new job

Starting a new job should be exciting, but it can also be nerve-racking. The truth is you have no reason to be nervous. There are some simple steps you can take to prepare yourself for what’s to come, from the application process to interviewing and even what to do on your first day on the job!

How to find a new job?

A great way to start finding a new job is to first determine what skills you already have. We’ve all developed a wealth of skills from all our different work experiences, and you’ll be amazed at how many of them will be transferable to your new career path.

Starting a new job checklist

Selecting the right career path is crucial - you want to find something that you’ll excel in, enjoy and feel like you’re doing something meaningful. Before choosing a career path, this checklist will help you make an informed decision.

Choosing the career path that’s right for you shouldn’t feel daunting or stressful. It’s an exciting opportunity to get to know yourself better and take stock of what skills and knowledge you’ve attained from your previous experiences.

We’ve created a simple checklist of what you can do to determine which path is right for you.

  • Make a list of your skills (both soft and hard skills)
  • Take a look at a few job descriptions in different areas, to see where your skills might fit
  • Start looking at open positions in whichever path seems like the best fit
  • Take a look at your CV
    • Update your work experience and education
    • Highlight relevant skills and experience required for the position
  • Apply for any position you’re interested in!

Plan Your Departure

Preparing for your first day on the job is crucial. You’ll feel a lot more relaxed when you know that you’ve done everything you could before starting. This is where you make your plan of action.

A little bit of research can go a long way. Planning ahead is an easy way to make sure you feel more confident on your first day.

Things to do before starting a new job

There are a variety of ways you can plan ahead so you walk into your new workplace feeling like you aren’t totally lost.

  • Read up on company reviews
    • They’re a great way to see what current and past employees have to say
  • Visit the company website, particularly their careers section.
    • There are loads of insights there as to what they expect and value
  • Re-read your job description
    • If there are skills you feel you’re missing, take some time before starting to learn some of them!
  • Email your recruiter - if possible
    • Your recruiter could give you some information on things like dress code or company culture
  • Ask employees what to expect - if possible
    • If you have a friend or a friend of a friend who works in the company you’re starting at, don’t hesitate to ask some questions about what you can expect

What to do on your first day of work

Now that you’ve armed yourself with the knowledge and skills you need for your new career path, there’s the moment where your first day of work begins. Some great tips for what you can do to make your first day a winner includes:

  1. The best advice - be yourself!
  2. Prepare questions and ask them as the day goes on
  3. Be ready to explain who you are - your new colleagues will be curious
  4. Show up early! This is your first impression, so make it a good one
  5. Try to take it all in. This is a great chance to get your feel for what’s to come
  6. Learn the professional rules - either by asking or observing
  7. Talk to as many people as possible

We also highly recommend taking note of the people you meet and what their positions are in the company. These will be your colleagues, and forging strong relationships with them from the get-go is a great way to get started.
