“I want to touch the lives of everyone that surrounds me.”
Elena Muñoz - Product Line Manager
I joined P&G as a scholar; I was hooked on the opportunity after learning how others from my university managed the balance of school and work. I knew I wanted to work on something outside of my studies that that also challenged me.
On my first day, I was assigned to work on a Compliance project. It was a lot of responsibility very quickly - if the project wasn’t accomplished, the plant could close for not complying with the most recent regulations. I was shocked and excited to realize that I would be accountable for such a big project. I got to meet everyone in the plant, which made it easier for me to find the necessary help to develop and execute my project. I wasn’t left “on my own”, I had a lot of support from my colleagues from day 1, which helped me develop throughout my career.
In my current role, I’m based in our Alce Blanco site which is Mexico’s site for manufacturing manual toothbrushes. There are other sites in the world that produce toothbrushes as well, and we are currently working together to eliminate a common consumer complaint about a toothbrush defect. It’s amazing to work with people from R&D in Germany, from Manaus, from Iowa and from Ireland; everyone works as a team to solve problems and accomplish goals.
The most important thing about being part of P&G is just as the slogan says: “touching lives, improving life”. I want to touch the lives of everyone that surrounds me. When I leave the company, I want to have the feeling that I actually taught something to someone that helped them develop in their career, or even helped them with their personal life. That would bring me a lot of satisfaction, and that way I’d know I did something right.
