“What surprised me most about my role when I first started was the amount of responsibility I was given out of the gate.”
Peter, Sales Account Manager, Metro Team.
When I came to P&G as an Account Manager on the Metro team, I was looking for an environment that would challenge me and allow me to build my business development and selling skills. What surprised me most about my role when I first started was the amount of responsibility I was given out of the gate - I truly felt like I was running a business after just a month. I was troubleshooting supply issues, identifying and selling-in distribution opportunities, and securing internal investment for product launches.
The broad scope of my day-to-day had me always learning something new. However, anytime I needed guidance or I couldn't solve a problem on my own, I had no shortage of coaches or mentors that would help me through whatever task I was struggling with. Everyone who I worked with welcomed my questions and ensured I was developing the knowledge and capabilities I needed to be successful at P&G.
As I became more comfortable managing my business, I became more involved in building the organization through coordinating university recruiting events, team socials, and beginning to mentor interns and new hires myself. I've felt incredibly rewarded in my efforts to build on the fun, competitive sales culture of P&G.”
