We are looking for a passionate process development chemist that will play a leadership role on the team by 1) leading the design and delivery of chemistry innovation projects on new technology platforms, 2) operating with expertise and hands-on technical mastery to solve significant technical problems, 3) leveraging scientific/engineering skills and strong foundational process understanding developed through hands-on experimentation/application, and 4) informing technical learnings and influencing project direction. This role offers the opportunity to do hands-on work at bench scale and beyond, access to highly experienced coaches, visibility to leadership, external partnerships, and more. This role includes all aspects of process chemistry work including upstream material design and prototyping, IP landscaping, bench-to-pilot experiments to define key material & process parameters, test method development, modeling transformations to analyze process data, lifecycle analysis and techno-economic analysis, and transferring knowledge to internal and external partners to support industrialization and commercialization.


Qualifications

The selected candidate will have:

  • Technical Mastery in Process Chemistry: A BS or MS degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 5-10 years industrial experience in organic synthesis and process chemistry. Ability to translate laboratory-scale insights to pilot or commercial scale. Experience with high pressure/temperature chemistry is a plus. Experience with technoeconomic analysis, lifecycle analysis, and/or intellectual property is a plus.

  • Technical Curiosity & Innovation: A demonstrated track record of technical curiosity, hands-on experimental work, and ability to develop robust experimental plans and translate data into actionable insights, leading to innovation and providing solutions to complex problems.

  • Communication: Excellent communication both verbally and in written form across multiple levels, with local and virtual global teams is essential. Proven track record of effectively delivering proposals and summaries to influence key stakeholders is ideal.

  • Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to influence and work well within a team, with remote partners, with multiple OUs, and externally. Must be willing to flow to the work when needed as well as train others in the organization through coaching.

  • Agility: Project needs and the external landscape can change rapidly. The candidate must be able to work on multiple technical platforms simultaneously as business needs arise. Must be versatile to adapt to shifting priorities, as well as changes and upgrades to work processes; responding to and anticipating the changing business environment is critical.
