Director, Platform Engineering

The Director of Platform Engineering of Google Cloud Platform is accountable for leading a strong engineering practice within the organization with technical hands-on engineers, building scalable solutions for managing the cloud, designing the best architecture for platform resiliency and seamless integrations in the overall P&G cloud ecosystem, and foster collaboration across the community of cloud and software engineers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Accountable for overall GCP engineering, including Infrastructure as Code platform and other infrastructure shared services, to provide the building blocks for developing and migrating apps in the cloud, with the right guardrails to ensure compliance with security policies.

  • Build and lead a high-performing team by hiring, coaching, and mentoring cloud engineers. Provide guidance and support to team members to enable them to achieve individual and team objectives.

  • Establish a solid DevOps framework for including deployment pipelines, automated testing, other best practices across our Google cloud solutions.

  • Establish reference architectures, decision trees, integration patterns, and a robust networking model to streamline the process of delivering resilient applications, then build blueprints to implement reusable patterns and drive agility in the creation of new cloud environments.

  • Create and nurture a community of practice that enables cloud engineers and developers to learn faster, contribute their code and best practices with others, and receive actionable feedback to reduce time-to-market.

  • Collaborate with various teams of business units, service lines, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, InfoSec, developers, Google cloud, external vendors, and other stakeholders to align strategies, design target architecture, develop implementation plans, enforce security controls, and develop/deploy infrastructure automations.

  • Be forward looking and stay abreast of industry trends and cloud emerging technologies to influence senior executives, guide decision-making, and drive innovation within the company.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of work
  • A deep understanding and hands-on experience on general cloud offerings and solutions, architecture, security controls, and network setup. Strong working Knowledge on Google cloud capabilities (e.g, BigQuery, GKE containers, AI, ML, etc.) highly preferred.
  • A good understanding of modern application development, and configuration management process/tooling (GitHub, AzureDevOps, CICD, puppet, ansible, and terraform, etc.), DevSecOps, SRE, and cloud integration patterns and technologies.
  • 10+ years of relevant professional and hands-on experience in one or more technical domains spanning across cloud offerings, architecture, and system administration.
  • Effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences and influencing others to comply with policies and deliver superior business results.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in a relevant field of work
